For three years, Kazakhstan plans to enter the full processing of oilseeds.
Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan Saparkhan Omarov spoke about plans for the development of oilseed processing in the country, Kazinform news agency reported.
“In 2004, we sowed oilseeds of only 400 thousand hectares, in 2011 - 1.9 million hectares, in 2019 - already 2.9 million hectares. From year to year, we are increasing the volume of oilseeds, so our main task is to further increase the acreage for oilseeds, ”Saparkhan Omarov said before the start of the III International Conference KazOil 2019.
According to the Minister, today oilseeds are more profitable than wheat.
“Our oilseeds are in great demand from other countries, for example, in flax in 2018, Kazakhstan took first place in terms of production. But there are problems associated with processing: today we export about 40% of all products in the form of raw materials. And you need to achieve a figure of 100%. For this, the Ministry of Agriculture has developed a map of processing, including oilseeds, ”the minister informed.
The head of the Ministry of Agriculture also called approximate dates when the processing of oilseeds will achieve a result of 100%.
“We hope that over the next 2-3 years we will go out for 100% processing of oilseeds and will sell only processed products. If we go back to flax, our flax is grown, then exported to Europe, where it is processed, and in processed form it is exported through us to China, ”the minister concluded.
