In Atyrau region, fish catch increased by 2.5 thousand tons.

In the region, such a result is associated with dredging of fish passage channels. Since the beginning of the year, 6.5 thousand tons of fish have been caught in the Atyrau region, the website reports citing data from the head of the region, Nurlan Nogaev, voiced at a briefing in the CCS.

“Since the beginning of the year, fishing production cooperatives, within the allocated limit, have caught 6.5 thousand tons of fish. Over the same period last year, 4 thousand tons were caught. Thus, compared with last year, the volume of commercial fishing increased by 2.5 thousand tons. This shows that the ongoing dredging works give results on improving the passage of fish into rivers, spawning and preserving fish stocks of a reservoir, despite the fact of mass death of fish at the end of last year, ”the regional akim noted.

According to him, starting in 2017, the Ural and Kigach rivers are undergoing large-scale dredging on fish passage channels. For dredging on the Ural River, the total length of which is 62 km, 2.151 million tenge are provided from the republican budget. It is also planned to dig 16.9 km of new channels. In addition to the Ural River, dredging is carried out on the Kigach River. From the republican budget 5.453 million tenge were allocated for these purposes. The length of the work is 154 km, the completion is scheduled for 2020.

According to information, the work carried out affects the improvement of the hydrological regime of the river. At the same time, Kazhydromet monthly monitors the quality of the water of the Ural River for the amount of ions, biogen, organic substances and heavy metals. The water quality of the Ural River does not exceed normative indicators.
